The head of Munich police announced that the attacker who killed nine people in Munich last night is an 18-year-old German-Iranian citizen. After a multi-hour manhunt, the attacker committed suicide.
Although initial witness reports claimed there were three attackers, the police denied this. As stated at the official press conference, it is believed that the attacker carried out the attack alone. He first opened fire at a McDonald's restaurant, then entered a shopping mall.
The toll of yesterday's bloody rampage by this 18-year-old is ten dead and 16 wounded, including several children.
The motive for the attack is not yet known, and the city was under lockdown all evening.
