Ukrainian drone attack caused fires in Russian Black Sea port

(Patria) - A Ukrainian drone attack caused fires in one of Russia's Black Sea ports, officials said on Sunday, ahead of new talks aimed at ending the nearly four-year war.

Two people were injured in the attack on the port of Taman in the Krasnodar region, which damaged an oil storage tank, a warehouse, and terminals, according to regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev, AP reported.

Meanwhile, debris from downed Russian drones damaged civilian and transport infrastructure in Ukraine's Odesa region, officials said, causing disruptions to electricity and water supplies.

Long-range Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian energy facilities aim to deprive Moscow of oil export revenues needed to wage its full-scale invasion. Russia seeks to cripple Ukraine's power grid, aiming to deny civilians access to heat, light, and running water, which Kyiv officials call an attempt to weaponize winter.

The attacks occurred ahead of another round of talks, under the auspices of the United States, between Russian and Ukrainian envoys, on Tuesday and Wednesday in Geneva, shortly before the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of its neighbor on February 24.
