(Patria) - The first week of the war against Iran cost the United States of America more than 11.3 billion dollars, lawmakers were told at a briefing in the Pentagon, according to a report by the New York Times (NYT), which highlights the pace at which the conflict consumes weapons and resources, Reuters reports.
The NYT, citing unnamed sources familiar with the closed briefing on Tuesday, said members of Congress were told that this figure excludes many costs associated with preparing for the attacks, suggesting that the final amount for the first week could rise significantly.
Defense officials previously told Congress that in the first two days of fighting alone, approximately 5.6 billion dollars worth of munitions were expended, according to US media, a rate of expenditure far higher than earlier public estimates.
