Turkish official, head of the bar association Tahir Elci in the southeastern Turkish city of Diyarbakir was killed today during a press conference, several people were wounded, and one policeman died after being wounded, world media report, as reported by the BiH news agency Patria.
Incidentally, this lawyer was facing charges and a prison sentence for supporting Kurdish rebels (PKK), whom he stated were not terrorists.
The Turkish prosecutor had sought more than 7 years in prison for Elci based on charges of supporting terrorist propaganda.
