Armed attacker killed by police forces after shooting at White House security

(Patria) - A shooting occurred in the immediate vicinity of the White House in Washington, and according to CNN, about ten shots were heard. Police officers and Secret Service agents with heavy weaponry were immediately deployed to the scene.

According to information obtained by CNN from the police, two people were wounded during the confrontation with the Secret Service. Agents reacted after a report of an armed person who was shooting, after which a fierce conflict ensued.

Journalists who were on the White House lawn at the time of the incident were urgently evacuated inside the building, while agents warned them of the danger.

- They told us to run inside the White House as fast as possible - said journalist Selina Vang.

- The suspected attacker was killed after opening fire on a Secret Service checkpoint outside the White House on Saturday evening - stated a Secret Service spokesperson for CBS News.

A White House official told CBS News that the president was informed about the shooting that occurred outside the US President's residence.

The Secret Service confirmed that the president was inside the White House during the incident.
