SARAJevo, (Patria) - Following yesterday's tragedy in Brčko, when six people died in a family house fire, citizens have joined forces and launched a humanitarian action to provide necessities for the other family members who were left homeless.
Miralem Gigović from Brčko announced this humanitarian action on his Facebook profile, stating that in cooperation with a nearby catering facility, he is organizing a collection of clothes and shoes, which started yesterday and will last until 5:00 PM today.
"Winter is coming, so try to set aside something warm in terms of clothes and shoes and take it to Check In and hand it over to the waiter. Once the family's housing issue is resolved, the action will continue, and along with clothes, we will also collect other assistance in the form of food and the like," Gigović wrote.
A few hours after calling for the humanitarian action, Gigović announced that the warehouse of the nearby catering facility was full and that some of the collected items had already been delivered.
"Thank you very much, people, and thank you to Mejra Šečić who provided us with space and welcomed us and took over part of this action at her own risk. All items that are 'surplus' will be distributed to Roma families throughout the District. Well done, Brčko," Gigović emphasized.
Yesterday, the Mayor of Brčko District, Esed Kadrić, together with members of the Government, visited the Brčko settlement of Suljagića Sokak, where a fire occurred in the morning hours, tragically claiming the lives of six residents of the District, while the injured are receiving hospital treatment, and one was transported to the University Clinical Center Tuzla due to severe injuries.
