AFTER FOUR YEARS, Indictment Filed Against Marinković, Macan, and Trifković for the Murder of Sarajevo Police Officers

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Following an intensive and complex multi-year investigation, investigating prosecutors from the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office have filed an indictment against Savo Marinković, Aleksandar Macan, and Marko Trifković for the murder of police officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton, Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović.

They are accused of, on October 26, 2018, in the Alipašino Polje settlement around 4:20 AM, after being caught by police officers stealing a vehicle in Geteova Street, firing at least 20 shots at police officers Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović, who were in a police car. The police officers were killed, as Adis Šehović died immediately from his injuries, while Davor Vujinović was severely wounded, succumbing to his injuries several hours later.

The filing of the indictment was preceded by a complex investigation by the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the State Investigation and Protection Agency and investigators of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton. The Federal Police Administration, the Directorate for Organized and Serious Crime of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republika Srpska, and the Intelligence-Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina also actively participated in the investigation and contributed to shedding light on the criminal offense.

In this case, the investigating prosecutors undertook more than 2,500 documentation and evidence-gathering actions. Among the evidence are, among other things, parts of a Seat Leon car as well as parts of a machine gun with 20 shell casings from which the police officers were killed, which were found buried in Pale in the Republika Srpska. Approximately 500 people were interviewed. DNA, biological, ballistic, mechanoscopic, and other expert examinations were conducted, including requests for international legal assistance to obtain data, as well as interviews and expert examinations outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Cooperation was established with EUROPOL and INTERPOL, and with the competent authorities of seven countries: the USA, France, Germany, Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, and Canada. Some evidence was also corroborated by data from the Sky and Anom applications, which this prosecutor's office obtained through international legal assistance, specifically from the judicial authorities of the USA and France. The indictment, with over 400 pieces of evidence, has been forwarded to the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo for confirmation. An extension of custody for all three suspects has also been proposed.
