Largest children's gathering in BiH: Kid's Festival is shutting down

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The largest children's gathering in BiH, which has been held for the past 14 years, Kid's Festival, is officially shutting down, confirmed Kid's Festival director Susanne Prahl. She is also the initiator of the idea for the children's festival, and it could have been predicted that such a scenario would happen when last year's Festival lasted only one day.

Prahl confirmed at today's press conference that the main reason is the lack of financial resources.

- The real cause is the lack of political will, or more precisely, a persistent will not to support it. This is not a political assassination. The denial, which can be summarized as a lack of recognition, is the reason why Kids Festival is shutting down in Sarajevo - said Prahl.

During the past 14 colorful parades and festival days, more than 50,000 children from all over Bosnia and Herzegovina have passed through.

Kid's Festival is also held in Tunisia and Italy, where it will continue to operate.

In an interview with the Patria agency in 2016, Prahl said that if support is lacking, this story will have to end.

- I cannot and do not want to go against the state and its institutions. If there is no support, then we have to end the story.

At the time, she said that an entire generation of children had grown up with the Kid's Festival.
