The thinnest building in Beirut was built out of spite

(Patria) - Al Ba'sa or Spite is the name of the thinnest building in Beirut, and many believe in the whole world, reports Punkufer.

At its narrowest point, it is only 60 centimeters wide, and at its widest, 3.9 meters.

It is located near the old lighthouse in Manara.

It was built in 1954 out of spite. Namely, two brothers quarreled over the land their father left them as inheritance.

One brother took a miniature piece of land with strange dimensions, on which nothing decent could be built, while the other received the attractive part with a view of the Mediterranean.

The first brother, out of spite, built a thin 14-meter-high building that blocks the view of the Mediterranean Sea, thereby reducing the value of the other brother's land.

Although it looks like a wall with a terrace, Al Ba'sa reportedly contains two apartments on each floor.

For years, one of the apartments housed a brothel, and others housed refugees.
