(Patria) -At least one person died after an explosion at a factory in the Spanish region of Tarragona in Catalonia, Spanish media reported. The death occurred due to the collapse of a building in the Tarragona district of Torreforta, caused by the shockwave, El Pais reports, as carried by Patria.
Regarding the injured, currently eight in number, one is in critical condition. The first explosion occurred at 18:40 and affected the company's ethylene oxide tank, while the second deflagration was located at the company's transformer station, as reported by Interior Minister Miquel Buch.
The Catalan fire brigade said that three people have been rescued, who are currently receiving emergency medical assistance.
About twenty emergency service vehicles are at the scene. The civil protection agency has stated that for now there are no signs of a toxic cloud, but residents are advised to stay indoors.
