At least 103 people killed in explosions in Iran

(Patria) - The emergency services have announced that at least 103 people were killed in explosions near the tomb of General Qassam Soleimani in Iran's Kerman province, state media reported.

Iranian media report that another 171 people were injured in the explosions that occurred in the southern Iranian city of Kerman, as the anniversary of the death of General Qassem Soleimani was being marked.

As stated, the explosions were heard near the general's tomb ten minutes apart.

There are still no details on why the explosions occurred. An Iranian official described the explosions as “terrorist attacks,” state media reported.

Recall, thousands of people gathered in Kerman to visit the tomb of General Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike on Baghdad in early 2020.

As Al Jazeera reports, Iran's judiciary chief, Gholam Hossein Mohseni-Ejei, issued a statement regarding this crime: “The agents and perpetrators of this heinous crime will undoubtedly be punished.”

“The responsible intelligence, security and police services are obliged to find all evidence and perpetrators without delay and hand them over to the judiciary,” he added.
