(Patria) - Donald Trump has once again spoken out about Elon Musk after the Tesla founder criticized his "great" spending bill.
The US President said Musk is upset because he lost privileges in the electric vehicle business and warned him that he "could lose much more than that".
Earlier, Trump proposed that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Musk led, investigate subsidies granted to the billionaire's companies.
But now Trump has gone even further.
When asked if he would consider deporting Musk – a possibility suggested at the beginning of their conflict by one of the most influential members of the MAGA movement and former Trump advisor Steve Bannon, who is extremely hostile towards the world's richest man – Trump did not rule out the possibility.
"I don't know, we'll have to see," Trump replied, according to Sky News.
The US President had earlier proposed that DOGE examine the subsidies received by the companies of Tesla CEO Elon Musk to save the federal government "a lot" of money.
Billionaire Elon Musk renewed his criticism of Trump's comprehensive tax and spending bill yesterday, attacking lawmakers planning to vote for it.
"Elon has probably received more subsidies than any human being in history, far more subsidies, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close shop and go back home to South Africa.
No more rocket launches, satellites, or electric car production, and our country would save a fortune. Maybe we should ask DOGE to take a good, hard look at this? A lot of money to be saved," Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social.
After weeks of relative silence since his spat with Trump over the bill, Musk rejoined the discussion on Saturday as the Senate debated the package, calling it "completely insane and destructive" in a post on the X social platform.
Yesterday, he intensified his criticism, saying that lawmakers who advocated for spending cuts but plan to vote for the bill "should be ashamed of themselves!"
"And they will lose the primaries next year, if that's the last thing I do on this Earth," Musk threatened.
The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX once again called for the formation of a new political party, saying that the huge spending on the bill indicates "that we live in a one-party country."
"It's time for a new political party that actually cares about people," Musk wrote.
His criticism of the bill has caused a rift in his relationship with Trump, marking a dramatic shift after the tech billionaire spent nearly $300 million on Trump's re-election campaign and led the controversial DOGE, a federal cost-cutting initiative.
Musk, the world's richest man, claims the new bill would significantly increase the national debt and erase the savings he says he achieved through DOGE.
It remains unclear how much influence Musk has on Congress or what impact his opinions might have on the bill's adoption.
However, Republicans have expressed concern that his feud with Trump could harm their chances of retaining their majority in the 2026 congressional elections.
The rift has also led to volatility for Tesla, with the company's shares experiencing wild price swings that wiped out approximately $150 billion in market value, although it has since recovered.
