Mayor Hadžibajrić: Rent for April to be completely waived in Stari Grad

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Commander of the Municipal Civil Protection Headquarters of Stari Grad, Mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić convened the third regular session of the Headquarters, at which new measures were adopted to facilitate business operations for entrepreneurs in this municipality.

At the beginning of the session, the Commander of the Headquarters, Mayor Hadžibajrić, emphasized that the real sector is already in a serious crisis and that layoffs are increasingly occurring. He reiterated that the public sector must bear part of the burden to alleviate the private sector.

“The public sector depends on the work of the real sector, and that is why we must help now. I am increasingly receiving information that certain business entities that operate exceptionally well are closing their facilities and placing employees on minimum wages to avoid layoffs, but the question is how long they will last. As a local community, we can currently help them by exempting them from paying rent. Today, we are making a decision to completely exempt all lessees of municipal business premises from paying rent for the month of April,” said Hadžibajrić.

He explained that the decision applies to users of municipal business premises as well as public areas such as parking lots and the like. The Headquarters unanimously accepted this decision, but it is important to emphasize that facilities whose operation has not been prohibited are excluded from the decision, namely: the banking sector, bakeries, pharmacies, and grocery stores located in municipal business premises.
All necessary procedures for the implementation of this decision will be carried out by the competent Service for Economy and the Service for Investments and Communal Affairs.

The Municipal Mayor, Mr. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, announced that the situation regarding the consequences caused by the spread of the coronavirus will be monitored, and future actions will be taken in accordance with the situation on the ground.
