SARAJEVO, (Patria) – An urgent session of the KS Assembly on traffic safety in KS will be held on Friday, June 9.

During the next week, and before the session, the KS Government will hold talks and consult with several institutions whose representatives are expected to attend the session.

Thus, the attendance of representatives from the Police Administration of the KS MUP, KS MUP, Ministry of Transport of KS, which consulted with the Faculty of Transport and Communications of UNSA, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, and the KS Prosecutor's Office is expected at the KS Assembly session. According to Patria's information, someone from the Ministry of Transport and Communications of FBiH should also be invited to the session, considering certain regulations and procedures issued by that ministry.

The session should also clarify the measures previously adopted by the KS Government, which relate to current, short-term, and long-term measures to improve road safety in Sarajevo Canton. Some measures will require a longer period, changes to laws and regulations, but what can be done immediately is to increase police presence on the streets of Sarajevo.

Special attention will be paid to sanctioning individuals driving without a valid driver's license, those caught driving under the influence of alcohol, or under the influence of narcotics.

Following the traffic accident on May 26, when three people were hit by a vehicle driven by Armin Berberović, who did not have a driver's license and was intoxicated, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries, the KS Assembly adopted an initiative at its session on May 30 to hold an urgent session on traffic safety.

A heated discussion is expected at this session, as well as numerous conclusions that could improve traffic safety, and the overall security situation, given that two minors were attacked in Sarajevo a few days ago, sustaining serious bodily injuries.

This will be an opportunity to open numerous issues, but also for the KS authorities to commit to doing everything possible to improve the security situation in Sarajevo.
