The remains of journalist Kjašif Smajlović, a correspondent of Oslobođenje from Zvornik, were buried today at the Sarajevo cemetery Vlakovo. He was killed in 1992 by Arkan's men, who came to BiH from neighboring Serbia, NAP reports.
Kjašif is considered the first journalist killed in BiH, at the very beginning of the aggression against the country in 1992.
The remains of journalist Smajlović were only recently found in the mass grave of Kazan bašča near Zvornik. Experts confirmed that Smajlović was first tortured and then killed.
Sevleta Ahmedinović, now a retired employee of Oslobođenje, was the last person to speak with Kjašif.
- He told me, Sele, I see they are heading towards the Bureau. Hurry and write! I wrote quickly, out of fear, abbreviated... He relayed the entire report to me - Sevleta testified.
