Large quantity of medicines and supplements seized at Sarajevo Airport

(Patria) - Authorized officials of the Indirect Taxation Authority (UIO) of BiH seized a larger quantity of goods whose import or export is prohibited, restricted, or requires a permit according to the valid regulations in BiH.

At Sarajevo Airport, authorized UIO officials, in cooperation with officials of the BiH Border Police, seized a larger quantity of medicines, supplements, and other goods for which special import permits into BiH are required.

The total value of the seized goods is estimated at 47,000 KM.

The activities were carried out by the Joint Team CCP/AIRCOP (established within the UNODC project for promoting the rule of law and good governance through targeted measures to strengthen border controls at ports and airports in Southeast Europe).

During this, the luggage of a foreign national who arrived in BiH from the Republic of Serbia on a regular flight from Belgrade to Sarajevo was inspected.

During the inspection, a larger quantity of goods was found and seized from the person, whose import or export is prohibited, restricted, or requires a permit according to the valid regulations in BiH, as well as goods of foreign origin of a commercial nature that were not reported to the customs authorities upon entry into the customs territory of BiH.

These include medicines, infusions, supplements, sunscreens, and other goods, the total value of which is estimated at 47,000 KM.

Legal measures and actions have been taken against the perpetrator of the described irregularities.
During the implementation of measures within their jurisdiction, authorized UIO officials used specialized equipment donated by the Embassy of the USA in BiH, through the EXBS Program, as well as by UNDP/UNODC.
