(Patria) - At a gathering for media, sponsors, and friends today, the City of Sarajevo, led by Mayor Benjamina Karić, announced a spectacular New Year's 2024 celebration featuring Zabranjeno pušenje, Crvena jabuka, Bombaj štampa, and Laka.
In a very relaxed atmosphere, Zenit Đozić, the scriptwriter for the Public New Year's Eve program, along with representatives of the four bands, Davor Sučić Sula, Dražen Žerić Žera, Nedim Babović, and Elvir Laković Laka, announced a unique program and a completely new concept for the New Year's Eve celebration in Titova Street, symbolically named "Sarajevo Story".
If the atmosphere at the gathering, full of humor and good fun, is any indication, there will be no shortage of top-notch performances in the Bosnian capital on the last day of December.
Mayor Karić stated that Sarajevo is ready for another spectacular celebration, as well as for all the guests who are arriving in our city in huge numbers.
"Our Sarajevo will truly be a unique New Year's destination again this December 31st. I am sure that the recognizable Sarajevo humor, the unique program we have prepared, and the four great bands will create a wonderful atmosphere and send beautiful images and messages of love from our city. Sarajevo will once again, largely thanks to the hospitality of its citizens and the special holiday spirit it offers and the soul it always has, be one of the most desirable New Year's destinations in the region. I am particularly pleased about the anniversary of the 40th anniversary of the Olympics in Sarajevo and our Sarajevo story, which, in addition to a kind of spectacle in Titova Street on December 31st, will actually be an introduction to everything we are preparing for the celebration of this beautiful anniversary, so that the Sarajevo story lasts a long time. Dear citizens, guests, and friends of the city, welcome. Sarajevo loves you!" said Mayor Benjamina Karić.
This year's program will begin with a concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra at the National Theatre, with a broadcast on five LED screens in Titova Street until the start of the main program at 9 PM, and at Susan Sontag Square until the end of the concert at the National Theatre.
The Philharmonic concert starts at 7:30 PM, when the entrance to Titova Street will open from the direction of Kulovića Street, Dalmatinska Street, and the main entrance from the Children of Sarajevo Square. The complete program at the Eternal Flame begins at 9:00 PM, when the first performer – Laka with his band – will appear on stage.
From 10:00 PM, the bands "Zabranjeno pušenje", "Crvena jabuka", and "Bombaj štampa" will take turns on stage, and their performances will be accompanied by special video projections on LED screens along the street.
Between the bands, Đozić will appear on stage several times, and new recorded content, which Zenit and his team have been working on in recent months, will be broadcast as part of the program.
Given that the City of Sarajevo previously announced that it was abandoning fireworks on New Year's Eve, a completely new experience will be organized in Titova Street at midnight.
A previous study and developed report confirmed that the entire invested amount in Sarajevo's Public New Year's Eve celebration will be returned at least twofold, considering the occupancy of accommodation facilities and the number of tourists coming to Sarajevo before the New Year's holidays. We remind you that all service information and details regarding the rules for the area where the Public New Year's Eve 2024 celebration will be held will be available from December 20, 2023, on the website sarajevskaprica.ba.
It is especially important to emphasize the excellent cooperation between the City Administration and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Communal Economy, and all public enterprises and services.
The project is co-financed, among others, by the Tourist Board of Sarajevo Canton, and the Municipalities of Novo Sarajevo, Centar, Stari Grad, and Novi Grad. The general sponsor of the Public New Year's Eve celebration is NLB Bank, which supported the project with KM 100,000.00.
"We are extremely pleased to be partners with the City of Sarajevo and that this partnership marks just the beginning of our joint cooperation. Considering the musicians who will entertain us on New Year's Eve, we are glad to be part of this true Sarajevo story. We at NLB Bank say that this region is our home, we know the people from this region, and our support for this event is one way to enrich the lives of Sarajevo citizens, as well as the experience of this city for all tourists planning to visit Sarajevo from the region. Furthermore, I am pleased to announce that NLB Bank Sarajevo is also the general sponsor of the Public New Year's Eve celebrations in Mostar and Tuzla, which is proof of our commitment to the local community, not only in Sarajevo but also beyond," stated Jure Peljhan, Member of the Management Board of NLB Bank d.d. Sarajevo.
The co-producer of the "Sarajevo Story" program is Federal TV, which will broadcast the entire program live.
