30th anniversary of the Operation Attempt to Unblock Rakovica marked in Ilidža

(Patria) - Organized by the Veterans Association "Veterans of the War 1992-1995 Rakovica" in Ilidža, the 30th anniversary of the "Operation Attempt to Unblock Rakovica", which is also the Day of the Local Community Rakovica, was marked.

Through a relevant historical lesson, attendees recalled the events of June 6, 1992, and by reciting Fatiha and laying flowers at the memorial in front of the mosque in Rakovica, they paid tribute to all the martyrs from this area, as well as their comrades who passed away after the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Students of the Ninth Elementary School Ilidža enhanced the remembrance of the events from exactly three decades ago with their musical performances and recitals.

- I always say it's difficult to speak in places where we remember our bravest sons and daughters. However, I must admit that I am glad to see children from our elementary schools at these commemorations, preserving the memory of all those who are no longer with us, and who enabled us to stand here and speak, through their musical performances and presentations - said the Mayor of Ilidža Municipality, Nermin Muzur, adding:

- We know well that a nation that forgets its past has no future. We younger ones were not old enough to defend our homeland during the aggression, but I sincerely hope that we will be able to stand with our heads held high before those who did and say that we have successfully taken care of what they left us.

In addition to the delegation of Ilidža Municipality, which included Mayor Muzur, Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council Redžo Lemezan, and Municipal Councilor Amar Bungur, tributes to the martyrs of Rakovica were also paid by delegations from the Coordination of Veterans' Associations, MZ Rakovica, the Ninth Mountain Brigade Hadžići Association, the Association of Defenders of BiH - Kiseljak Municipality, as well as numerous residents of Rakovica.
