AT KARAKAJ BORDER CROSSING Suspect in War Crimes in Zvornik Borislav Gligorević arrested upon entering BiH

SARAJevo, (Patria) - Acting on a warrant issued by the BiH Prosecutor's Office, BiH Border Police officers arrested suspect Gligorević Borislav, born in 1971 in Snagovo, Zvornik, at the Karakaj border crossing.

The suspect is under investigation by prosecutors from the Special Department for War Crimes and is suspected of having acted contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War in 1992, in his capacity as a member of the VRS and the "White Eagles" unit of the TO Zvornik.

He is accused of, along with other persons, while a large number of civilians of Bosniak nationality were illegally detained in the village of Liplje, who were subjected to multiple abuses and a number of women were sexually abused, entering houses where civilians were held, and committing rape of two women, who were illegally detained in the said facilities, by threat of force and danger to life.

Given that the prosecution and partner law enforcement agencies learned that the suspect was outside Bosnia and Herzegovina, a warrant was issued for him, and he was arrested on Friday upon entering the territory of BiH.

After questioning the suspect, the acting prosecutor submitted a motion to the BiH Court to determine pre-trial detention, which was explained in detail at the hearing held this morning, and the decision of the BiH Court on the motion for detention is expected.
