Four individuals arrested at border crossings

(Patria) - Border Police officers of BiH, upon entry into BiH at the Šepak International Border Crossing, determined that L.LJ., 54, was wanted by the Basic Court in Zvornik for the criminal offense of "illicit trafficking of weapons and explosives", after which he was deprived of his liberty.

"The Serbian citizen was handed over to members of the Court Police of Zvornik. Upon entry into BiH at the Kostajnica BCP, a 44-year-old Slovenian citizen was deprived of his liberty because it was determined that he was wanted by the Police Administration of Banja Luka for the criminal offense of "endangerment of security". R.R. was handed over to officers of the Police Station Banja Luka – Lauš. Another Slovenian citizen was deprived of his liberty upon exit from BiH at the Kamensko BCP because he was wanted by the Police Administration of Livno for the criminal offense of "giving false testimony". Đ.V. (1967) was handed over to officers of the Police Administration of Livno. At the Doljani BCP, upon exit from BiH, a 36-year-old BiH citizen was deprived of his liberty after it was determined that he was wanted by the Municipal Court in Zenica for the criminal offense of "theft". N.H. was handed over to members of the Court Police of Široki Brijeg," announced the Border Police.

Border Police officers of BiH, while carrying out intensified surveillance measures of the border area on the Bileća – Berkovići road, discovered six citizens of Iraq in a Renault Megane with Montenegrin license plates who had illegally entered BiH from Montenegro. The 39-year-old Montenegrin citizen, P.D., who was driving the vehicle, was deprived of his liberty and handed over to the BiH Prosecutor's Office with a report on the committed criminal offense of "human smuggling". The Renault Megane was temporarily confiscated, and the illegal migrants, who were questioned as witnesses, will be handed over to the BiH Service for Affairs with Foreigners.

"With the increased pressure of migrants at the BiH border, the BiH Border Police has intensified activities aimed at detecting criminal offenses related to human smuggling. Thus, in 2018, members of the BiH Border Police recorded 66 criminal offenses of "human smuggling", and eight of "organizing a group or association for committing the criminal offense of smuggling migrants", they added from the Border Police.

Reports were filed against 135 individuals to the competent prosecutor's office.
