On this day Zagreb was rocket-attacked: A woman from Sarajevo who fled the war in Bosnia was also killed

Zagreb was rocket-attacked on May 2 and 3, 1995, with cluster projectiles from the Orkan MRL. Seven Croatian civilians were killed and around 200 wounded, Patria reports.

Among the six killed civilians was a woman from Sarajevo, Ana Mutevelić, who had previously survived two years in besieged Sarajevo. During the aggression, around one and a half million shells fell on Sarajevo.

In Zagreb, a 'Square of the May Victims' was once marked at the beginning of Šoštarić Street, at the intersection of Vlaška and Drašković streets, exactly at the spot where a Serbian shell killed Sarajevo lawyer Ana Mutevelić. Every year at the place where this woman from Sarajevo lost her life, flowers were laid by Zlatan and Nedim Mutevelić - Ana's son and husband, who 15 years ago initiated the effort for the city of Zagreb to erect a memorial plaque to the victims of the rocket attack. For this crime, Milan Martić was sentenced by the Tribunal in The Hague to 35 years in prison, Patria reports.
