MFA BiH: Crnadak was not supposed to be in Washington, Vidaković shows elementary ignorance

Regarding the statement made yesterday to the media by the Vice-President of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, Marko Vidaković, in which he criticizes the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Igor Crnadak, for not attending the inauguration of US President Donald Trump, the MFA BiH rejected all stated claims, Patria reports.

No Minister of Foreign Affairs, nor any high-ranking European politician, attended the inauguration, as only ambassadors of countries accredited in Washington participated in the official part of the inaugural ceremony, while others were observers of the inaugural events.

Although being in Washington on the day of the inauguration has no particular significance in relevant international political circles, there were politicians, mostly from the local level, who believed they should have been in Washington yesterday, and that the mere fact of being there would bring them affirmation and make them important.

Such behavior is entirely legitimate, but the public in Bosnia and Herzegovina should know that Minister Crnadak was not supposed to be in Washington yesterday, and that in accordance with diplomatic standards, he congratulated the President of the United States of America Donald Trump on taking office and wished the new administration in Washington a successful term in a conversation with the US Ambassador in Sarajevo immediately after the inauguration.

Marko Vidaković showed irresponsibility and elementary ignorance with his performance yesterday, and therefore we appeal for much greater responsibility when appearing in public, because such statements disgrace and embarrass not only Marko Vidaković, but also Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
