(Patria) - U.S. Secret Service agents killed a man who tried to illegally enter Trump's Mar-a-Lago, Reuters reports.
The U.S. Secret Service announced on Sunday that its agents shot and killed a man in his twenties after he attempted to illegally enter the secured perimeter at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach, Florida, Reuters reports.
Trump is currently in Washington.
The Secret Service stated that the man was spotted at the north gate of the Mar-a-Lago property carrying what appeared to be a shotgun and a gas can, the Secret Service said, Sky News reports.
The incident occurred approximately eight hours ago, around 1:30 AM local time. U.S. Secret Service agents and a deputy from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) confronted the individual, after which law enforcement officers opened fire. No Secret Service or PBSO personnel were injured.
Although Donald Trump often spends weekends at his Florida resort, he was in the White House at the time of the incident. "No Secret Service protectees were on the premises at the time of the incident," the statement read. The President's wife, Melania Trump, was also with him at the White House on Saturday evening.
