Police are on the trail of a man who, in just a few days, made two false reports about a planted bomb in Brčko cafes. After he is identified, the man will have to pay all the costs incurred by the police during the search for the non-existent bomb, NAP reports.
In both cases, Brčko police officers evacuated guests from a catering facility in the centre of Brčko. During the latest false bomb report, police also evacuated guests from the Youth Centre, where a meeting of the anti-corruption commission was taking place at the time. Members of the Government of Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina were also present at the meeting.
Halid Emkić, advisor to the Chief of Police of Brčko District, told the local portal Info Brčko that every police deployment to the field also generates certain financial costs. The costs of inspecting premises, even when it comes to a false report of a bomb, are further increased. The police take every report very seriously.
In the case of a bomb report, in addition to the police, firefighters and emergency medical personnel also go to the scene. All of this requires high financial resources, which are paid for by citizens. The Brčko police will in future invoice such costs to those who make false reports, NAP reports.
