(Patria) - The Ministry of Interior and the Police Administration of the Zenica-Doboj Canton presented armored combat vehicles, official vehicles (off-road vehicles, vehicles for apprehension, and vehicles for the daily work of police officers), weaponry, and uniforms for the members of this police agency today at the premises of the Special Police Unit in Zenica.
As stated by the relevant minister Emir Vračo, this is the first time that three armored combat vehicles have been procured, costing around 4.7 million KM, while an additional over 2.3 million KM was allocated for 46 official vehicles.
The personal weaponry of the members of this police agency has been renewed for the first time since 1997, for which approximately 1.5 million KM was spent. Five million KM was spent on the procurement of uniforms.
"We continue to invest, strengthen, and improve the security system decisively, responsibly, bravely, and without compromise," Vračo stated.
He reminded that, in addition to new equipment, they have also continued to strengthen police ranks in terms of personnel, and investments have been made in computerization and the procurement of drones.
"We have hired 223 new police officers, while the competition for an additional 195 has been completed, and we expect them to attend the Police Academy soon. This means we are not only strengthening equipment – we are building a stable, modern, and efficient security system," Vračo emphasized.
The strengthening of the police in all segments, he said, is the result of systematic work and the clear commitment of the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton.
"This equipment will be in vain if you who wear this honorable uniform and perform this honorable job do not demonstrate through your actions, your morals, your work, and your professionalism – which I do not doubt – that you are at the service of our citizens," said the Prime Minister of that canton, Nezir Pivić, to the police officers, calling on citizens to trust their police, as well as institutions.
He reminded that they declared last year the year of investment in the security sector, in which they invested more than 12 million KM, while they declared this year the year of investment in the health sector, and that the ultimate goal of this government is the beginning of the construction of the new Cantonal Hospital in Zenica.
He also announced that in two to three months, police officers in that canton, as well as other public sector employees of that canton whose salaries are paid from the budget, will receive a new salary increase.
The Head of the Uniformed Police Sector of the Police Administration of the ZDK Ministry of Interior, Adis Imamović, emphasized that the goal is a professionally equipped and trained police force that is ready to respond to all challenges of modern society. In this regard, he stressed, continuous equipping with new material and technical resources is one of the strategic priorities of the Police Administration and the ZDK Ministry of Interior.
