RS Ministry of Interior withdraws amendments to Public Gathering Law, but not reserve police force

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ministry of Interior has not submitted the Draft Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Public Gathering Law to the parliamentary procedure, as many media outlets have reported recently, nor has the Government of Republika Srpska commented on it, the RS Ministry of Interior announced.

"Considering that this is a working version, the Ministry will not continue working on amendments to this law at this time, nor will it submit this material for procedure," the statement added.

The Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska is ready for a constructive dialogue regarding the Draft Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Public Order and Peace Law, which is scheduled to be on the agenda of the Fourth Session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska on April 16, 2019, all with the aim of respecting good practices and proposals related to the controversial articles of the said Draft Law.

The goal is to obtain a quality and good solution before the proposal of this law is determined.

"At the same time, the Draft Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Police and Internal Affairs, which provides for the possibility of introducing a reserve police force, which is also a practice in many European Union member states, will be in the parliamentary procedure at the NSRS session, all with the aim of raising the level of security for citizens and property," the RS Ministry of Interior announced.
