KS Ministry of Interior: 20 KM fee for exceeding the deadline for paying fines is still in effect

The 20 KM fee that drivers pay in case of exceeding the deadline for paying traffic fines has not been abolished in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, confirmed for the BH news agency Patria (NAP) from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton (MUP KS).

Several interlocutors confirmed to the Patria agency that traffic police officers, after issuing a violation report, informed them that they could pay the fine for the traffic violation by the expiration of the vehicle's license plates, without having to pay an additional 20 KM fee.

MUP KS spokesperson Irfan Nefić denied for the Patria agency the abolition of additional fees for exceeding the deadline for paying traffic fines, which is eight days from the date of issuing the violation report.

Nefić stated that according to the Law on Misdemeanors of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, anyone issued a fine for violating traffic regulations must pay the fine within eight days, or by the expiration of the car's license plates, but in that case, the fine will be increased by 20 KM.
This law is valid throughout the entire FBiH and applies to all traffic violations.

Nefić explains that the software system into which all traffic violations are entered automatically calculates an additional 20 KM for the unpaid fine after eight days, writes NAP.
