KS Ministry of Interior: Serious security breach, fans planned riots during the match

(Patria) - The Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton has commented on the unfortunate scenes today before the planned city derby between FK Željezničar and FK Sarajevo.

They also explained the measures taken against the fans who caused riots. The Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton stated that, in accordance with the assessment of the security chief and operational knowledge, they decided to ban visiting fans from entering the Grbavica stadium during the derby match between FK Željezničar and FK Sarajevo.

During today, a group of fans called "Horde zla" seriously breached security, resulting in nine people being detained at the official premises so far, and two police officers were injured in the process, according to the KS Ministry of Interior.

"Through the effective action of the members of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, larger-scale riots were prevented, which, according to operational knowledge, this fan group was preparing before and during today's match," the KS Ministry of Interior added.

Given the fact that planned clashes between the fans of these two clubs have been recorded in recent days, they reminded that police officers arrested 14 people on February 28, members of the FK Željezničar fan group due to violent behavior and damage to a bus carrying FK Sarajevo fans.

"The Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton has decided to ban visiting fans for security reasons. Any attempt to endanger the lives and property of the citizens of Sarajevo Canton will be sanctioned in accordance with the law," the Police Administration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton added.
