MUP KS releases details of operation to free kidnapped person

(Patria) - The Ilidža Police Station was informed yesterday around 15:40 that at the roundabout in the settlement of Pejton (Ilidža), several people physically attacked a man, whom they then forcibly placed in a van and headed towards Blažuj.

Police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, through operational field work, found the said van, a "Ford", at a self-service car wash in the Plandište street area, and one man, D.D., a citizen of Ukraine, who can be linked to this incident.

Shortly after, in Plandište street, police officers attempted to stop a motor vehicle, a "Škoda", in which persons of interest were located. The driver of the vehicle refused the order to stop and continued driving towards Vrelo Bosne. At the Vrelo Bosne picnic area, police officers found the vehicle, while the suspects continued their escape on foot.

The prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton qualified the act as Unlawful Deprivation of Liberty (Article 179 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina), and due to suspicion of committing this criminal offense, the following were deprived of liberty: Y.L. (2005), Y.H. (2003), O.I. (1985), D.D. (2004) and A.M. (2005), all from Ukraine.

Previously, police officers located the facility where the man A.E.A., a citizen of Syria, was unlawfully detained. Accompanied by police officers, he was transferred to the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo for a medical examination, where minor bodily injuries were diagnosed. Police officers searched the house and found a firearm – one pistol.

Police officers of the Police Administration of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton, under the supervision of the prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, continue working on the investigation and documentation of this criminal offense.
