The Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton today sent a press release, which the news agency Patria transmits in its entirety.
-On 08.02.2016, the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton was informed that a traffic accident occurred in Velika aleja street, Ilidža municipality. On that occasion, Dženan Memić, born in 1994 in Hrasnica, residing in Sarajevo, sustained serious bodily injuries, while Alisa Mutap, born in 1996 in Germany, sustained minor injuries. The injured received medical assistance at the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo, where Dženan Memić was kept for further treatment. The investigation was conducted by the prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo and police officers of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton.
On 15.02.2016, Dženan Memić succumbed to the injuries sustained, and the traffic accident was reclassified as a criminal offense under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Murder).
After the reclassification, police officers of the Criminal Police Sector of this Ministry, under the supervision of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton, undertook a series of operational-tactical measures and actions to solve and document the criminal offense of murder, to the detriment of Dženan Memić.
The undertaken measures resulted in the identification and arrest of three persons: Ljubo Seferović, born in 1985, residing in Sarajevo, Vasvija Sejdović, born in 1983, residing in Sarajevo, on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense under Article 166 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Murder), and Bekrija Seferović, born in 1970, residing in Sarajevo, on suspicion of having committed the criminal offense under Article 349 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Obstruction of Evidence). The arrested persons were handed over, along with a report on the committed criminal offenses, to the competent prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in Sarajevo.
We take this opportunity to draw the public's attention to unsubstantiated attempts by individuals and institutions to, using the course of resolving this specific case, portray the actions of police officers as inefficient and unprofessional. Precisely in this and a series of previous cases, police officers of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton have demonstrated the highest level of responsibility, systematicity, and professionalism in solving the most complex criminal offenses, the press release concludes.
The Police Administration of this Ministry will continue, in cooperation with all competent institutions, to remain firm in its commitment to continue its dedicated work on building a more favorable security environment in Sarajevo Canton, thereby fulfilling its constitutional and legal obligations.
