Muminović: Appointing Tadić as Chief Prosecutor would be an insult to camp inmates

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) will elect the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina at a session to be held on January 23. The HJPC has previously confirmed that three candidates remain in the shortlist: Gordana Tadić, Diana Kajmaković, and Munib Halilović.

Former representative in the Assembly of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and inmate of the Turija camp in Konjic, Alija Muminović, told Patria that appointing Tadić as Chief Prosecutor of the BiH Prosecutor's Office would be a humiliation for the war victims who endured the torture of the camps.

"More than five years ago, I filed a lawsuit for crimes committed in the Turija camp, but the Prosecutor's Office did nothing on that case," said Muminović. He was captured by the HVO in 1993 near Konjic upon the return of the BiH delegation from negotiations in Zagreb. From the HVO camp, he was handed over to the Army of the Republika Srpska.

"We spent six months in the camps, and no one has been held accountable for it," said Muminović.

Federal Television reminded last night of the family ties between prosecutor Tadić and HDZ BiH Presidency member Mijo Krešić. "I am proud of that," said Krešić.

"If they chose Ms. Tadić, we would have Dragan Čović as the Chief Prosecutor," said lawyer Duško Tomić.
