Muhamed Mešić: We love BiH with taxes and sevdah and March 1st and all other days

Muhamed Mešić, a lawyer and linguist from Tuzla, wrote an interesting story on his Facebook profile on the occasion of Independence Day, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

- While waiting for a plane to Seoul, I was talking to a Korean man, an engineer, who came from Seoul to the opera in Milan, around my father's age. Uncle Min-ho told me that they also celebrate Independence Day today. Koreans remember March 1, 1919, when resistance against the Japanese occupation began. Uncle Min-ho also told me that today's Korea, divided in half first by great powers, then by war, is not at all what the March 1st fighters fought for. I told him about Bosnia and Herzegovina, about Denis and Una, about Šantić and Jablanica lamb, I played him some Marija Šestić, some Dubioza.

He looked at me and said I was a romantic, adding: "I like romantics. But we in Korea learned that a country must first be loved through work, taxes, and honesty. It took us a long time to learn that, but there is no other way. So that our grandchildren can also have a country they can truly love.

Mešić conveys: Let's love Bosnia and Herzegovina, both in the Bosnian and Korean way, with taxes and sevdah, on March 1st and all other days. Happy - and at least hope-filled - Independence Day.
