SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Young Swiss motorcyclist Jason Dupasquier has died from injuries sustained during Saturday's qualifying for the Moto3 Italian Grand Prix.
Dupasquier was involved in a serious accident during the second part of qualifying at the Mugello circuit, which also involved Ayumu Sasaki and Jeremy Alcoba. Sergio Garcia obstructed the Prüstel GP rider, who fell from his motorcycle, and was then hit by Sasaki, followed by Alcoba.
The Swiss rider was first treated at the track itself, then airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Florence, where he underwent surgery overnight, but succumbed to his injuries during the morning.
Dorna, the organisation that manages top-level motorcycle racing, also issued a statement: "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jason Dupasquier. On behalf of the entire MotoGP family, we send our love to his team, his family and loved ones. Jason will be greatly missed."
