(Patria) - Višegrad is today marking the 31st anniversary of the crimes against the Bosniaks of this town. Survivors, families of the victims, associations, and government representatives. 3,000 roses were dropped from the Mehmed-paša Sokolović Bridge into the Drina River for 3,000 murdered Bosniaks.

Flowers were also laid at the crime scenes in Pionirska Street and Bikavac, where in the most monstrous crimes committed during the aggression on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina, more than 140 civilians were burned alive in the houses of Sumbula Zeba and Meho Aljić in live bonfires.

A special military formation under the command of war criminal Milan Lukić captured more than 70 people, including women and children, who were burned alive in the house of Adem Omeragić in Pionirska Street in Višegrad, and the youngest victim was a two-day-old baby. In the Bikavac settlement, 72 Bosniak civilians were burned in the house of Meho Aljić just a few days later, and the youngest victim was a one-year-old child.

According to the data of the Hague Tribunal, in May and June 1992 alone, more than 60 percent of Bosniaks from the Višegrad area were killed, and in the period from 1992 to 1995, about 3,000 Višegrad Bosniaks were killed, while Hague verdicts emphasized that Višegrad was subjected to "one of the most ruthless ethnic cleansing campaigns in the Bosnian conflict".

Today, a message was sent to the BiH judiciary to prosecute numerous war crimes, while war criminals live freely in the cities where they committed monstrous crimes.

After the afternoon prayer, the funeral prayer will be held and the burial of eight identified victims will take place.

The youngest victim to find rest at the Stražište cemetery in Višegrad is Munevera Šapanija, who was 22 years old at the time of her murder. The oldest victim is Amir Omerović, who was 62 years old at the time of his liquidation, and his remains were exhumed 30 years later at the Gornja Crnča site in Višegrad.
