Moratorium will have to be violated: Essential drivers needed at JU Sarajevo Canton Health Center

(Patria) - Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Mario Nenadić held a meeting today with the Head of the Office for Combating Corruption and Quality Management of CS Erduan Kafedžić.

The reason for the meeting was to exchange information on the fight against corruption in the Canton, and Prime Minister Nenadić, on that occasion, informed Kafedžić about the risks related to the implementation of regulations and conclusions of the CS Assembly concerning the employment moratorium, as well as conclusions related to healthcare and the fight against Covid in Sarajevo Canton.

Views were exchanged on the most pragmatic models for implementing laws and assembly conclusions.

The Prime Minister specifically pointed out the risk in the healthcare sector, as the adoption of certain solutions, based on Assembly conclusions, requires appropriate management structures, which are currently lacking in five public health institutions of Sarajevo Canton.

"Thus, the potential risk of certain legal and other inconsistencies in the application of regulations and the aforementioned conclusions is clear," stated Prime Minister Nenadić.

He emphasized that one of the institutions currently lacking management structures is the JU Sarajevo Canton Health Center.

"We will have to violate the moratorium in the healthcare sector in certain cases, primarily in the engagement of non-medical staff, such as drivers for patient transport at the JU Health Center, who are urgently needed at the moment," the Prime Minister stated.

He noted that the employment moratorium does not apply only to the employment of medical staff in public health institutions. However, in conditions of staff shortages, as well as an increased number of Covid patients in public health institutions, the healthcare system is functioning with difficulty.

Head of the Office Kafedžić emphasized that the Prime Minister's efforts to resolve these issues are evident, and he provided relevant recommendations regarding this situation.

Discussions also covered controls by federal and cantonal inspectorates in public health institutions of CS, in the scope of reviewing and implementing orders and conclusions of the crisis headquarters of FBiH and CS, as well as the Government of CS, and primarily the conclusion related to ensuring additional 30 percent of hospital capacities for treating Covid patients in Sarajevo Canton.

Prime Minister Nenadić informed Kafedžić about procurements being realized in CS related to the fight against the coronavirus, especially regarding the implementation of two agreements signed between UNDP and the Government, and UNDP and the CS Health Insurance Fund.
