SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Basic Court in Srebrenica has issued a verdict fully accepting the lawsuit filed by children and parents from Konjević Polje due to discrimination in the educational process.

According to BHRT, the court determined that discrimination exists and ordered the Primary School "Petar Kočić" to rectify it, meaning to allow students of Bosniak nationality to study their mother tongue, the Bosnian language.

The notice from the Basic Court states that this is a first-instance verdict, which can be appealed to the Higher Court in Bijeljina.

The representative of the parents of children from Konjević Polje, Muhizin Omerović, welcomed this court decision, which upheld their demands.

"We want to point out to the public that this process has been going on for too long, for ten years, and it is senseless. It is incomprehensible that it is being delayed for so long, as there are three decisions from the Constitutional Court proving that we and our children are discriminated against in the educational system of Republika Srpska. The decisions have never been implemented. This is a criminal offense because someone is obstructing it for so long," Omerović told Fena.

He announced that he will once again call on representatives of the Office of the High Representative (OHR) to get involved in this case and help children and parents to finally resolve the issue.

"This is a disgrace to our judicial system. We will also invite parents from Republika Srpska whose children are discriminated against to join us in the fight for children's rights for a better and more normal education," Omerović emphasizes.
