Moore and Mektić: OSCE has ways to help BiH in the fight against terrorism

Security challenges facing Bosnia and Herzegovina and other OSCE member states were the main topic of today's meeting between the Head of the OSCE Mission in BiH, Ambassador Jonathan Moore, and the Director of the Service for Foreigners' Affairs, Dragan Mektić, reports the Patria News Agency.

During his introductory visit to the Service, Ambassador Moore stated that the security challenges of BiH and other OSCE member states are very similar and that a common response should be sought and given to them through joint efforts. Moore stated that there are numerous possibilities for the OSCE to help Bosnia and Herzegovina create a secure environment for its citizens through projects and programs aimed at combating terrorism and other forms of organized crime, and especially in the area of protection and rescue.

After Director Mektić presented the results of the Service's work, it was emphasized that this state institution is an important link in the security system of BiH and, as such, is recognized in the region and the European Union as a reliable partner in the fight against all forms of illegal migration.

Ambassador Moore wished success to Director Mektić as a candidate for the future Minister of Security in the Council of Ministers of BiH. Together, they expressed the expectation that the new government at the state level will be formed soon and concluded that the new convocation of the Council of Ministers has a lot of work ahead, i.e., numerous difficult and responsible decisions, because only such decisions can bring progress and stop the further stagnation of the country.

Mektić expressed optimism in this regard, stating that in his work he will continue to be guided by the best interests of all citizens of BiH and contribute to strengthening their trust in the system, i.e., the institutions of this country, it was announced from the Service.
