LOTS OF MONEY, BUT A POOR COUNTRY: Indirect tax revenue collected 1.412 billion KM more than last year

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Indirect tax revenues in the first eleven months of 2022 amounted to 9 billion and 76 million KM, an increase of 1 billion and 412 million KM or 18.43% compared to the same period in 2021, when they amounted to 7 billion and 664 million KM.

In November 2022 alone, 862 million KM of indirect taxes were collected, which is 99 million KM more than in November 2021.

After the Indirect Taxation Authority of Bosnia and Herzegovina (UIO) refunded VAT to the economy in the amount of 1 billion and 889 million KM, the net collected revenues distributed to beneficiaries in the period January-November 2022, namely the state, entities, and Brčko District, amounted to 7 billion and 187 million KM, an increase of 884 million KM compared to the revenues received by beneficiaries from the Single Account for the same period in 2021.

REVENUE DISTRIBUTION IN THE PERIOD JANUARY-NOVEMBER 2022

In the period January-November 2022, an amount of 792 million KM was allocated for financing state institutions. The surplus of collected indirect tax revenues ended up in the accounts of the entities and Brčko District. Thus, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina received 3 billion and 943 million KM, Republika Srpska 2 billion and 182 million KM, and Brčko District 220 million KM.

In the table below, we provide an overview of the total funds allocated to the entities and Brčko District, including the corresponding external debt, in the period January-November 2022, compared to the same period last year. All amounts are expressed in millions of KM.

In addition to the distributed revenues in the table above, based on the special toll for highway construction and the construction and reconstruction of other roads (0.25 KM), the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina received an additional 193 million KM, Republika Srpska 127 million KM, and Brčko District 6 million KM. The difference represents a reserve in a special toll account of 0.25 KM.
