IMF approves second tranche of loan to BiH worth 145 million KM

BiH, (Patria) - The Executive Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at today's session made a decision on the payment of the second tranche of the extended arrangement with BiH in the amount of 145 million KM. The total amount that BiH has received from the IMF under this arrangement amounts to 290 million KM, the IMF announced.
Deputy Director and Acting Chair of the IMF Executive Board Tao Zhang stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina has continued to make progress in reducing internal and external imbalances in recent years.

"Authorities have implemented economic policies and structural reforms within the framework of the IMF-supported program, including maintaining fiscal discipline, preserving financial stability, and improving the business environment. It is important for the authorities to continue their efforts to strengthen growth potential and address structural weaknesses while maintaining economic and financial stability," he said.

The Vice-President of SDP BiH and economic expert Draško Aćimović previously published in a column on the Patria News Agency portal that the IMF, the World Bank, and other creditors are not humanitarians, but creditors who have their own interests.

To be clear, Aćimović believes, the IMF, the World Bank, and other creditors "give us new loans so that we can repay their old loans with them."
