IMF and BiH Discuss New Credit Arrangement

Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CBBH) Senad Softić, accompanied by associates, held talks today in Sarajevo with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Mission Chief for BiH Nadeem Ilahi, it was announced from the CBBH, reports the BiH news agency Patria.

The IMF mission is visiting BiH to discuss a possible new arrangement between this financial institution and BiH with government representatives.

During the talks, the IMF expressed strong support for the CBBH's commitment to continue implementing the CBBH's monetary policy within the currency board framework, and the importance of a stable monetary policy was emphasized as a foundation for economic policies in BiH and a crucial prerequisite for economic growth.

The Governor of the CBBH informed the IMF delegation about the activities undertaken by the CBBH, emphasizing that the CBBH will adopt a Strategic Business Plan by the end of the year, which includes strategic objectives for the next six-year period. Discussions also covered the role of the CBBH in coordinating banking supervision and the CBBH's engagement in the financial sector as a whole.

During the IMF delegation's stay in BiH, further meetings between CBBH representatives and the IMF at a technical level will be held, according to the CBBH, reports NAP.
