Young men crashed into Aleksandar Vučić's car, three arrested

A convoy of vehicles carrying Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić was intercepted on Saturday around 8:20 AM at the Topčider Star roundabout, writes Belgrade's Politika, reports the Patria agency.

The newspaper states that three people were arrested for endangering the president's safety.

According to Politika, citing its source, they crashed into the car carrying Vučić with a Bentley.

The suspects have been remanded in police custody for 48 hours and will be questioned on Monday at the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade along with a criminal complaint.

According to Politika's source, a black Bentley with Spanish license plates, driven by L. R., crashed into the convoy. Besides the driver, M. T. and S. D. were also in the car that endangered the president's safety. All three suspects, according to unofficial information, are known to the police for previous criminal offenses.

As stated, L. R. was "drifting" the car at the Topčider Star roundabout, meaning he was rapidly turning it at full throttle so that the tires would squeal.

Due to the rear-wheel drive, they held the steering wheel in the opposite direction, so the car was practically moving sideways. The convoy Vučić was in consisted of three vehicles. He was in the first one, and the Bentley hit exactly that car, a witness explained.

According to him, simultaneously with hitting the car Vučić was in, the Bentley, without stopping, blocked another escort vehicle, preventing the members of Vučić's security detail in it from reacting.

The third escort vehicle pursued the Bentley, caught up to it, and the president's security detail literally pulled the three "passengers" out of the vehicle.

According to unofficial information, the suspects were tested for narcotics after being brought to the police station, and cocaine was found in the blood and urine of one of them, according to the same information.

All three, according to information available to Politika, work as security for a popular Belgrade nightclub, and they borrowed the car they hit the convoy with, carrying President Vučić, from a well-known footballer.

According to Politika's source, the three arrested did not intend to "attack" the convoy carrying Vučić.

After finishing work at the nightclub, they decided to take a ride in the expensive car, and when they reached Topčider Star, the driver started "drifting" the vehicle.

After a few moments, the convoy carrying Vučić approached, and the Bentley directly crashed into the car Vučić was in.

The criminal complaint filed against them charges the suspects with the most severe form of endangering safety, for which a sentence of one to eight years is prescribed.
