Member of the BiH Presidency from the Serbian people Mladen Ivanić believes that the verdict against Radovan Karadžić will not contribute to calming tensions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Ivanić said today at a press conference in Banja Luka that he hopes the Hague Tribunal will very soon cease to exist and that the peoples within BiH will return to reconciliation in a different way. Ivanić called it genuine reconciliation.
Mladen Ivanić did not want to comment too much on the Hague verdict, but said that Karadžić's defense has plenty of room to change the Court's decision in the appellate verdict.
For him, the encouraging and calming tones that came yesterday from key political figures from the Federation of BiH are encouraging, as well as the fact that there were no gatherings of ordinary people on either side, before or after the Karadžić verdict.
Asked about the status of the RS after the Karadžić verdict, Ivanić replied that the RS is stable and secure, and that the path of BiH and its entities to Europe is open, NAP writes.
