Young Master's Graduate Adnana Podrug to Educate Farmers from Stari Grad

Adnana Podrug, a Master's graduate in agriculture, whose project proposal was evaluated as the best within the "Together for the Municipality" project, officially started volunteering in the Municipality of Stari Grad Sarajevo in early February, reports the BH News Agency Patria.

Podrug created the project "Agricultural Production and Environment," which was rated the most successful, and she got the chance to show what she knows. The goal of her project is to educate and train farmers in crop and vegetable production with an emphasis on environmental protection. Adnana graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture in Sarajevo in 2014 and has been unsuccessfully trying to find employment since then.

- Although I believed I wouldn't get a chance to volunteer in the Municipality of Stari Grad, I decided to write a project and apply for the Public Call. Ten days after submitting the project, the Municipality informed me that my project was the most successful and that I would start working in February - says Adnana, adding that she was both surprised and happy at the moment she received the information from the Municipality.

- Over the next year, as I described in the project, I intend to create an education plan for farmers in the field of environmental protection, protected cultivation, and the specific methods of growing certain crops. In addition, together with interested farmers, I plan to participate in the process of taking soil samples and analyzing them, and providing instructions for fertilizer use depending on the soil analysis results - explained Adnana Podrug, thanking the Municipality of Stari Grad for the opportunity for employment.

The Municipality of Stari Grad launched the "Together for the Municipality" project for the first time last year with the aim of encouraging young people to contribute to the development of their local community and gain their first employment. The project was designed so that young people with ideas could apply with a project proposal and implement it with the help and support of the Municipality. At the same time, they would be provided with paid volunteer experience in the Municipality of Stari Grad for a period of one year.
