(Patria) - At the proposal of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Herzegovina-Neretva Canton/Mostar, by a decision of the Municipal Court in Mostar dated 07.03.2025, detention was ordered for a maximum duration of 1 (one) month, against the suspects: Sanjin Gaš (1999), Miran Murati (2002) and Nino Gušić (2004), all from Mostar, due to
reasonable suspicion that they, as co-perpetrators, committed the criminal offense of "Grievous Bodily Harm" under Article 172, Paragraph 3, in conjunction with Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in conjunction with Article 31 of the same Law.
Namely, the suspects are charged with, on 28.02.2025 at around 23:25 hours, in Mostar, at Splitska Street no. 68, in a building on the second floor in front of the apartment of the injured party R.Z., masked with balaclavas on their heads, physically attacking and seriously injuring the injured party R.Z., inflicting upon him at that time life-threatening grievous bodily injuries.
And that in such a way that they waited for the injured party in the building where he lives, and when the injured party came in front of his apartment, they immediately began hitting him with prepared tools on the head and body, and when they subdued him, they tied his hands with "handcuffs" behind his back, then unlocked the door, pushed him into the apartment and continued beating him on various parts of the body and physically abusing him in the apartment, after which the suspects rummaged through the belongings in the apartment, locked it and left the building, then fled the scene in an unknown direction in a parked vehicle that was waiting for them in front of the building, while the injured party was helped by neighbors who called the Emergency Service and the police, and he was transported and hospitalized at the University Clinical Hospital Bijeli Brijeg, in the Intensive Care Unit.
The Prosecutor's Office requested the ordering of detention for the suspects on several grounds for detention, and the Municipal Court in Mostar assessed that the ordering of detention for the suspects is entirely well-founded and justified, because there is a reasonable fear that they will destroy, hide, alter or forge evidence or traces important for the criminal proceedings, and because special circumstances indicate that they will obstruct the criminal proceedings
by influencing witnesses, accomplices or concealers.
Since the case is in the initial phase of the investigation, the Prosecutor's Office, in accordance with the evidence obtained so far, has opted for the legal qualification of the criminal offense of "Grievous Bodily Harm" under Article 172, Paragraph 3, in conjunction with Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and in conjunction with Article 31 of the same Law, i.e., a qualified form of this criminal offense for which a prison sentence of 1 (one) to 10 (ten) years may be imposed.
If the Prosecutor's Office during the investigation collects other evidence that may reasonably indicate the existence of some other criminal offenses, or other suspects, the investigation may be expanded to include those criminal offenses, or other suspects.
