Peace plan not fully defined: Gaza residents cautious as Israel conducts air strikes

(Patria) - Although the first phases of the ceasefire and hostage exchange are clearly defined, many points of the future agreement between Israel and Hamas are still uncertain.

According to the plan supported by the US and President Donald Trump, the next phases are still being negotiated:

- Hamas is seeking the establishment of a Palestinian state and says it will only demilitarize once it is established. Hamas wants to retain a role in Gaza as part of a "unified Palestinian movement", but Trump's plan explicitly prohibits Hamas's involvement.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu opposes the Palestinian Authority (PA) taking over the governance of Gaza, a stance he reiterated last week while standing with Trump.

A full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza remains unclear – after Israel withdraws to 53% of the territory, the US plan envisages two more phases of withdrawal, first to 40%, then to 15%, but further steps remain subject to negotiation.

Otherwise, Israel carried out attacks on Gaza yesterday while awaiting confirmation of the agreement, in which several people were killed and more than 40 were injured.

Although the residents of Gaza welcomed the news of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas with relief, their hope is accompanied by doubts.

"We felt happiness, but the pain and suffering remain," said Ibrahim Shurrab from Khan Yunis, who now lives in a tent camp in Muwasi, Sky News reports.

Nevin Qudeeh added that this was the first moment of real relief since the war began. "We are still on the streets," she said, waiting to return home.

In Deir al-Balah, children celebrated, but many adults felt bitterness.

"We have lost loved ones, homes, and an entire generation of students. We don't know where to start with rebuilding," said Mohammad al Farra.

Some fear that the ceasefire will not hold.

"We are very cautious, air strikes are still happening," said Mohamed al Nashar from Gaza.

Media report that the attacks continued today.
