Miranda Sidran on the Current Situation in Brussels: Counting the Dead, Carrying Bloody Bodies

Minister Counsellor of BiH to the EU in Brussels Miranda Sidran – Kamišalić wrote on her Facebook profile impressions of the current situation in Brussels, and reported that all employees of the Mission of our country are safe, reports the Patria news agency.

- Belgium has raised/returned the security level due to terrorism to the highest, fourth level. We are fine, all employees of the BiH Mission to the EU. A few steps from the Mission is the Malbek metro station, which is also a few minutes' walk from the main building of the European Commission and the European Parliament.

The attack happened there when we were all already in the offices. It is recommended that everyone either stay where they are, not come to work, or return home. All city traffic has been suspended. By the hundreds of ambulances, police and fire trucks passing by our Mission building, we sense that the tragedy is of the most horrific proportions.

The dead are being counted and bloody bodies are being carried. Citizens are being called not to panic. Parents are waiting for information from schools, whether to come for their children. Phones are not working. We are here together and we care for each other and our family members and friends. The Embassy is also concerned about the situation of our diaspora here, as well as the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH that remained with us in the Mission.

We expect an official address from the Belgian authorities. We are following live.lesoir.be live. Unfortunately, there are already officially 21 victims of this terrorist attack, and information about the number of wounded is constantly increasing. Our thoughts are with the families of the dead and injured. I am writing this grateful for the caring calls from friends everywhere - wrote Sidran-Kamišalić.
