Minute of silence for victims in Aleppo: 57 children from BiH are in Syria

Within parliamentary questions, Borislav Bojić, SDS MP, asked Dragan Mektić, BiH Security Minister, for exact data on the number of BiH citizens currently at battlefronts outside BiH, and how many have returned to BiH, writes Patria.

Mektić stated that a total of 226 adult BiH citizens have so far been present at the Syrian-Iraqi battlefront.

- Currently, there are 115 BiH citizens in Syria, and this is the operational data we have. Of these 115 at the Syrian-Iraqi battlefront, 65 are adult males and 56 are adult females citizens of BiH. At this part of the battlefront, 65 BiH citizens have been killed out of the total number, and 46 BiH citizens have returned. This number does not include children, as a number of them left with their families. According to our data, there are 57 minor children. Every single one of these 46 individuals, and 20 of them have been prosecuted, meaning court verdicts have been passed, and for 26 individuals, some form of process is ongoing – Mektić stated.

None of these 46 individuals returned without being operationally monitored. Last year, only one female individual went to Syria, for the purpose of entering into a Sharia marriage with a Serbian citizen.

Although Bojić also requested data on the number of BiH citizens at the Ukrainian battlefront, Mektić did not provide such data. 

Otherwise, at the proposal of MP Maja Gasal Vražalica, parliamentarians today paid tribute to the victims in Aleppo with a minute of silence.
