Minister Turković appeals for adoption of BiH budget

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bisera Turković has appealed for the urgent adoption of the proposed budget of Bosnia and Herzegovina for 2022.

The appeal was addressed to Chairperson Zoran Tegeltija and Minister of Finance Vjekoslav Bevanda, who are responsible for the preparation and submission for adoption to the Council of Ministers of BiH.

She believes that after the Global Fiscal Framework for the period 2022-2024 has been adopted, there is no longer any reason for any delay in determining the proposed budget for 2022.

"It is absolutely clear that without an active budget, there is no effective functioning of state institutions, no realization of major infrastructure projects, no active fight against the consequences of the pandemic, global financial disruptions, inflation, and other challenges ahead of us. We have already lost the entire first quarter of this year due to political blockades, and the entire past year for the realization of numerous projects that await full functionality of institutions," said Turković.

She states that hundreds of important agenda items, and the budget as the most important, have been waiting for months because certain political parties have decided to obstruct the work of institutions for the sake of achieving political goals at the expense of the citizens of the entire country.

"It is high time to stop such blackmail and to propose and adopt the budget and to continue working on fulfilling the conditions for the European Union and on the realization of projects of interest to the entire country. BiH institutions have been and will be the only place where state issues can be decided. Also, the adoption of the budget is necessary for the organization of General Elections in accordance with the law. Any further delay means a loss for all citizens, not just budget users," said Turković.
