EU Foreign Ministers: More cooperation needed in fight against terrorism

European Foreign Ministers are meeting in Brussels to discuss terrorist threats to Europe in light of recent attacks, reports the Patria News Agency.

The latest terrorist attacks in France and the subsequent arrests of alleged Islamists will be the topic of the ministerial meeting, which will also be attended by Croatian Minister Vesna Pusić. The meeting will not bring any concrete measures, but will be a preparation for a special summit next month dedicated to terrorism, reports the France Press agency.

In addition, discussions will focus on EU relations with Russia and how to deal with Russian actions in Ukraine.

The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, called for a broader alliance with Muslim countries in the fight against terrorism.

The EU's head of diplomacy said at the meeting in Brussels that, in addition to cooperation with Muslim countries, better information exchange is also needed between the Union's member states when it comes to the fight against terrorism.

The Secretary General of the Arab League, Nabil al-Arabi, is also at the Brussels meeting, with whom greater cooperation in the fight against terrorism will be discussed. Ministers noted that Muslim countries are the most affected by numerous radical groups. Mogherini emphasized that there will be no discussions about sanctions against Russia in Brussels, but rather a call for respect for the Minsk agreements.
