(Patria) - The Health Ministry in the Gaza Strip announced last night that at least 86 Palestinians, including 76 children, have died of starvation and malnutrition due to the deliberate Israeli blockade preventing aid from entering the enclave since October 2023.
"Starvation has killed 86 people in Gaza, including 76 children," the Ministry's statement said.
They described the crisis as a "silent massacre" unfolding in the blockaded territory and hold both Israel and the international community responsible for the deteriorating humanitarian conditions.
The Ministry noted that 18 people have died of starvation in Gaza in the last 24 hours, calling for the urgent reopening of border crossings into Gaza to allow food and medicine to enter.
Israel has closed all crossings with Gaza since March 2nd, effectively cutting off access to humanitarian aid and accelerating the spread of starvation.
Nearly 59,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed in Gaza in Israeli attacks since October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel is also facing a genocide lawsuit at the International Court of Justice.
